I really enjoy gardening if you call what I do gardening. I have no formal training except future farmers of America from high school. I love to dig in my yard put a plant in and then pray like crazy the poor plant will do well. I have had my first attempt at a garden this last spring being in Texas it feels like two  weeks  and the rest is summer. I did not do too bad how ever just when my plants were doing their last hurrah I had to move, I was renting and then bought  a place so now I am settled in and have started my so called second planting/garden for fall I managed to save all my container and house plants except for one I thought that was pretty good, I have about 20 inside plants and 15 out side containers that I had to move. I did some digging and mulching and thenput turnip green cauliflower carrots and some bachelors buttons all raised from seeds so I hope they will do well. I will update after I do my next phase wich is decorating for halloween getting some cannas and pampas grass planted.

At the end of the day, Chantel, we're all ameteurs. Best of luck with your first permanent garden. I was a long time renter and know the frustration of leaving a well done garden behind.

May I advise you to think twice before planting pampas grass in the ground because this is one big old grass that once established may be next to impossible to get rid of. Plus I see a small child in the pix and the leaves have wicked edges much like sawgrass. Perhaps a Pennisetum or Panicum or Miscanthus instead. Plug any of these names into our Learn2grow plant database to see pictures.
