HI, My feet are hot, tired, cracked and just poor ol' gardening feet at the end of the summer, Do you have any suggestions ? I used to buy a gardener's lotion locally that had some type of lanolin or something that I put on my hands and feet before I started gardening, but they no longer carry it, Any suggestions on lotions or types of foot soaks ? Thanks |

Hello Wendy, I have very dry skin and instead of expensive specialty lotions I put a bit of olive oil in the least costly skin lotion I can find, usually in the discount bin. It is very soothing and helps my skin from becoming the "alligator skin" common in my family and with old Florida gardeners. How much oil is up to you and the lotion, usually I mix somewhere between 10 and 20 percent oil to lotion by volume, however I have used more and less. |

I have the same problem, and it drives me crazy. From what I've read, air exposure makes dry feet drier, so it's hard to keep them moist in sandal weather. There are two products that have worked for me: Sally Hansen's Just Feet (www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?product=...) and Gold Bond foot cream (www.goldbond.com/gold-bond-products.html). Moisturize your feet at night with either of these produces and put on light socks to keep the cream working. Apply a little more during the day. It also helps to pumus your feet once a week. This method is a sure cure for summer dry feet. |

Hi Wendy, You might want to try Lansinoh Brand Lanoin -- which you can find in the baby section at Target or any of those stores where baby-care products are sold. It comes in a purple box/tube and is actually recommended/marketed for breastfeeding moms, but it works wonders on cracked feet and chapped hands, too!!! (I keep a tube of it in our medicine cabinet, and my kids and I use it on our hands and feet in winter.) While the larger sized tube can be a little pricey, a little really does go a long way! (I've actually had the same tube for over a year now.) In addition to Target, I know Babies R Us also sells it. (You might be able to find it at Walmart or Meijer, too -- but I haven't looked for it there, so I don't know for sure.) Hope your feet feel better soon! :-) |

mint oil in warm foot bath will cheer up your feet. As for dry, I buy the cheapest lotion with Cocoa Butter in it. My father used it on his skin graft back in the sixties. I work in a machine shop where my hands are always dirty and washing them numerous times of the day with chemical cleaners and degreasers, my hands would bleed by the end of the day from being cracked and dry. i use it everytime i wash my hands. Works great for me at a buck a 16oz bottle. Although your feet will smell like chocolate, just don't let a dog lick them, for it's poison to dogs. where socks indoors after applying or while sleeping so you don't stain the rug or sheets. Alot of people, when it's too late, find out certian lotions on a nice rug Will stain it. |
