I am first time trying to learn some gardening technique. My work is doing an expansion and let us employees take what ever plants and trees we wanted. I transplanted five australian willows approx two years old with about a 4 to 5 inch trunk and 10 australian dwarf bottlebrush plants. Its been about four weeks now and the trees  leaves have all died but if i scratch the branches with my thumb nail lightly its green , same with the plants. My question is how long before i know if the trees will live and since the bottlebrush plants keep growing a little white fuzzy flower and the end of the branches and then die off , should i prune the plants below the old bottlebrush and see if it will start new. Any help would greatly be appreciated since i new at this.

Dan, I also tried to transplant a bottle brush and had similar symptoms. Unfortunately the plant had already leafed out at the time I dug it. The fuzzy things at the end of the branches are the new growth dying. The green bark persisted on mine also but it never leafed back out. I would recommend keeping it well watered and wait about another month to see what happens.
