i have a spider plant that is now dying and i don't know why. I live in western mass and it is winter, i also have a bamboo plant that is all of a sudden droopy. i just replanted it in a larger pot. I am brand new at plants so would appreciate it for any and all info concerning watering these two types and what might be causing these symptons for each.

I suspect the problem could be with the roots....You don't say how or how often you are watering them. Droopy plants could be suffering from too much or too little watering. When you repotted the bamboo (is it the 'good luck' bamboo plant?), how did the roots look - white and healthy? Or brown and brittle or slimy? Do the pots have drainage holes? Please provide some answers so I can be of better help to you. Donna Moramarco |

Also watch if you are using city water, the fluoride can build up in the soil causing tip burn and becoming toxic to the plant.

Remeber, it is winter and the heat is on! This could be drying your plants out more often. I live in Central PA and find I have to water my house plants more often during these winter months. Always be sure to check that your soil is dry before watering. I just stick my finger in the soil and if it comes out dry, start to water and be sure to let the plants drain off any extra water. Good Luck.
