Thanks for your comment on my roses slide show, specifically Stainless Steel. If you are interested in getting her for your garden, she is available this year as a bare root rose at www.rosemania.com . They are now taking orders for Spring 2010 shipments.

The friend that took my photos to the show for me told me the show judging was rigged. Obviously too. Since I had won so many classes at the District Show and the some of the same judges were at this show, they had talked about that I was not to be given anything over a Second Place. I got all second place ribbons too. The photo that won best overall photo had a big scratch on it too. Very sad that these things have to go on.... Oh well. There is still the American Rose Society Photo Contest for 2009. We shall see how my work does there this time.

Thank you. The competition is very high. I would not want it any other way but sure makes things tense! :o)

It's HOT here too. I have poison oak or ivy all over me and I am not a happy camper! I hate to go inside to escape the heat but, today seems like a good day to sit inside and veg on the couch! (in the air condition)

    Thanks!
I liked the way the faded squash blossom was curling around, and wanted to capture it.

I started from small plants rather than seeds - and I did not heed my own advice by planting before the last frost-free date. I was just very lucky.

The 'Cherokee Purple' tomatoes are SOOOOO good!

Hey now, socializing with parents at The Macaroni Grill sounds like fun too ;). My daughter loves that restaurant--free desserts and all those colorful crayons.

Tonight we are going to a bar and grill called Hoppies. It is the favorite spot on Burt Lake; the lake our family cottage is on. Hoppies specializes in fried whitefish, good beer on tap and large portions. So much for my diet!

We saw lots of cool wildflowers yesterday but no orchids in bloom--either too late or too early. Will post about them later.

It was absolutely perfect. The breeze was cool, the sun out and the water slightly brisk but comfortable. I read a biography of Queen Elizabeth and chilled out under colorful beach umbrellas.

On Saturday night we ate at a super restaurant near Bethany Beach, called The Blue Crab. They are known for their excellent southern fried chicken and traditional crab boils. The crab, crabcakes and chicken were superb. My only complaint was that the corn on the cob was too starchy. I'm a Midwestern, fresh picked corn on the cob girl. Ears older than 3 days lost too much sweetness and taste like gnawing corn starch bubbles to me.

I could have stayed at the beach all week!
