My Favorite Plants
Except for weeds I have a love for all vegetation. I'm really enjoying my garden this year. I'm gathering tomatoes, vidalia onions, cucumbers (by the truckload, need any?, squash, okra has just started to come in and cantalopes will be ripening the 1st of Aug. I also have several flowerbeds with begonias, hydrangeas, vincas which sow themselves evry year so there's no telling where they will come up. Pretty cool. Also lots of crepe myrtles, flox from my grandmothers in Miss., impatiens, lots of evergreen shrubbery and nandinias. I really can't think of all I have planted but I'll post photos so I can be critiqued by all my online gardening friends.

I love to garden, because....
I've always loved fresh veggies even when I was a kid. My family has had a veggie garden since i can remember. I lost my father this past Jan. so being the single sibling i was elected to move out and help Mom since this house is way too much for her and all. So, I have inherited a very established garden and beautiful yard that my parents have taken great care and love for. This is actually my 1st year of doing it all myself with Moms help in pointing me the right way sometimes. I have a 86 yr. old gardening encylopedia in her knowledge.
Biggest Gardening Challenge
Finding the time to do it right. That's really about it. The aphids on our crepe myrtle trees have been a challenge this year. It's taken several sprayings of liquid sevin to get it under control. It broke my heart to have to spray the ladybugs who help in eating the aphids but really were not doing the job. And I probably poisoned some bees and butterflies, too. I didn't know what else to do though. It had become epidemic.
If I'm not gardening, I can be found:
Relaxing in the Fla. room looking out at the gardens. I have a view of front and back.
Other Hobbies
I've been a carpenter all my career and woodworking is more than a hobby, it's something I really love doing. Anything from trimming out a house to building cabinets to making bluebird houses(which we have had several families nest this summer.) I used to like golf but I have some physical impairments that impact my swing so I kinda gave up on that.
