Very good question. That is what I have been asking myself since this project started. My plan was to put cool season crops. But I am running into roots for the birch trees nearby and at the most 6 hours of sun. Maybe it could be a patio....I've just had planted some bulbs. Possibly more flowers later. Marlene |

Melissa, the flower is called Fuchsia. It is one of three that was overwintered from last year. I am going to try to overwinter it again this year. Thank you for your comment Joan |

Even with all the bioprospecting out there, there are still tons of plants with undiscovered medicinal qualities. It's such an interesting field. Ethnobotany was one of the directions I considered going into in terms of school and research. Sometimes I still wish I had. You and your husband have a rare opportunity to really get to know Nicaragua, its people and their traditional uses for local plant material. Do you botanize there? The Flora of Nicaragua is in Spanish, but it's pretty new (www.mobot.org/MOBOT/research/nicaragua/r...). Apparently, you have tons of native orchids there. How cool! Jessie Keith |
Thanks for asking. My thoughts were to plant cool season crops. But since I was given irises, I planted those around the edge. Now it's raining, so I haven't be able to do anything.
