Out Damn Whiteflies

Thursday, April 16, 2009, 05:33 PM CST [General]

I am going crazy with whiteflies. Plants all over the atrium are infested. So far I have been pulling seriously infested plants, putting them quickly into plastic bags. I have cut the infestation down significantly, but I rue pulling every container in the atrium and starting over. So, out damn whiteflies!

Sorry - whiteflies really are a pestilence. One of the nasty plagues on gardeners.

I hate to suggest chemicals, but you may have to resort to them. I always planted a decoy plant that whiteflies love (Jerusalem cherry, for example) to attract them away from other plants. "Hey, pssst, over here big boy!" and then quickly bagged them all while hovering around the beloved host, killing the little creeps all at once.
