My Favorite Plants Roses, ferns, wildflowers and many perennials.
Plants Currently in My Garden Roses, Wildflowers and many flowering perennials. Rapsberry bush patch and a veggie area.
I love to garden, because.... Tending to my gardens is a soul recharging time for me. I love to be out there caring for the roses and other plants or photographing their beautiful smiling blooms. It helps me to put the stresses of the work week on the back burner and I feel so much better.
Biggest Gardening Challenge The weeds never seem to give up! Since being injured earlier this year the big challenge is continuing to do the gardening I love when I cannot do things the same way anymore.
If I'm not gardening, I can be found: Taking photos of the roses and other flowers. Or editing and working on the photos. Maybe even reading a good book and enjoying the day with family on our back patio.
Other Hobbies Photography and Antiques collecting. Learning and appreciating the old ways and the tools needed back then.

Sometimes we forget all about those early forms of plant life still around today that play a vital role in the environment.

My wife talked me into going to a rose show. I did not want to go because I still remember all the ladies from the camelia show. Let's just say some attitudes don't belong at garden shows. What a difference at this show. I could have stayed here all day. I have never seen so many helpful people under one roof. I spent a lot of time at each display soaking up all the knowledge these prople had to offer. Had to wait 3 months to purchase some roses from one of the venders. At that I had to drive 20 miles to pick them up. It was worth it. The best one I bought was Verdum. There mini roses. They grow in clusters of 8 to 12. Those are the only mini's I have.

Of all our plants the roses seem to be holding up better than all the rest put together. I used to put my roses in the greenhouse for the winter. Now the rose growers told me when I do that , I'm shortening there lives. So last winter I left them out all winter and they did perform better this last summer. I bought some knockouts this year and they are more desease resistant.

Thanks Stan, I am not real great at growing roses because they take so much care for diseases where i live in zone 7, but I am learning each year :) I appreciate the comment. These smell so delightful and I have a peach colored one too. wendy in OR
