Name: Urban Homestead
Category: Sustainable Gardens
Status: Member
Description: Every home and yard has the potential to become an urban homestead. Every family can discover the age old ways of the pioneers who learned how to live off the land instead of out of the store. Centuries of great ideas are unknown today, but through this group we'll rediscover how to grow, make or recycle all we can to live better on less. From the hardscrabble farms of the Ozarks to the California hippie communes, this is where the old may give and the young may learn. Perhaps together we'll get back to the basics of life.
Name: Hot Grass
Category: Lawns
Status: Owner
Description: A beautiful green lawn makes many folks feel happy and safe. Growing grass where the weather is warm should be simple, right? Yet, more time, dollars and angst is spent in the pursuit of greener grass than many other aspects of gardening. Warm-season grasses have their own timetable for care, unique problems and pest - they are just different. This group is about sharing stories, tips and tricks about growing a better lawn where it’s hot. Let’s chat about ways to reduce the expensive inputs of time, water and nutrients many lawns require. We want to see pictures too, share your lawn with us and let’s talk grass!
